East Wind Schooner
Enjoy a two-hour sail aboard the schooner East Wind through Boothbay Harbor to see four Maine lighthouses, watch lobstermen and view the magnificent seaside homes. Captain Herb Smith has built six schooners and sailed around the world three times with his wife Doris and their children.

Boothbay Region Land Trust
Boothbay Region Land Trust preserves over 1,700 beautiful acres near Boothbay Harbor, including six islands, featuring wildlife habitat, vistas, forests, meadows, wetlands, shorefront, and historical sites. All are laced with walking and hiking trails open to the public. You’ll find a complete list, along with directions, on their website.

Boothbay Railway Village
The Boothbay Railway Village, located just a few miles from Ocean Point on Route 27, is made up of 28 restored historic buildings set on ten acres. A narrow-gauge coal-fired steam train takes passengers around the charming re-created village. There’s also an exhibition of more than 60 antique vehicles, plus a historic firehouse exhibit. It’s always a fun place to visit, particularly for families. Special events, including antique auto days and an autumn fair, enhance the enjoyment.

Cap’n Fish’s Cruises and Whale Watch
One of Boothbay Harbor’s oldest sightseeing cruise companies, Cap’n Fish offers a variety of trips to see whales, puffins, dolphins, and seals, plus a lobstering trip and scenic cruises along the rocky shorelines.

East Boothbay General Store
Take a step back in time - to a simpler time just down the road a piece on Rt 96 is the must visit East Boothbay General Store. Great stop for lunch, a lobster roll, tee shirt or souvenir. Classic Maine General Store.

Scenic Train Rides - Maine Eastern Railroad
Take a carefree ride along Maine’s Midcoast in a restored vintage railcar and just sit back and enjoy the views of seaside villages and our unspoiled natural coastline. The route runs between Brunswick and Rockland. You can board trains headed in either direction in nearby Wiscasset.

Boothbay Playhouse
This wonderful summer theater dates from 1937 and has recently undergone a renovation. Popular Broadway shows starring young professionals and local actors are mounted throughout the season.

The Opera House at Boothbay Harbor
Boothbay Harbor’s historic 1894 opera house offers a wide variety of performances including concerts, theater, improv, dance, cabaret, open-mic nights, and more. The opera house, which is on the National Registry of Historic Places, is located in the heart of downtown Boothbay Harbor.

Maine State Aquarium
The Maine State Aquarium, located on the western side of Boothbay Harbor, has a variety of exhibits including a 20-foot-long touch tank, a 23-pound live lobster, blue lobsters, and other fascinating creatures that inhabit the sea around us. In the outer harbor, just offshore, is Burnt Island Lighthouse, also owned by the Maine Department of Marine Resources. Fully restored to the way it was when it was a working lighthouse in the 1950s, Burnt Island offers twice-weekly, three-hour tours with living-history interpreters who welcome visitors into the “life” of a lighthouse-keeping family fifty years ago. The island is accessed via the tour boat Novelty, which departs from Pier 8 in Boothbay Harbor on Monday and Thursday afternoons from early July through the week before Labor Day.

Burnt Island Lighthouse
Burnt Island is a beautiful five-acre island owned by the Maine Department of Marine Resources. It is near the mainland and approximately one mile from the port of Boothbay Harbor. The historic buildings at this lighthouse station have been carefully restored and transformed into an exceptionally fine educational facility.

Charger Charters Deep Sea Fishing
Climb aboard the 28-foot downeast-style fishing vessel Charger for a morning or afternoon spent in pursuit of stripers, mackerel, and bluefish in the waters off Boothbay Harbor. Offshore trips for cod, cusk, and shark can also be arranged by private charter. You’ll be in capable hands, as Captain George Warren has more than two decades of experience fishing this area.

Tidal Transit Kayak Co. and East Boothbay Kayak Co.
With its endless nooks and crannies, islands, lighthouses, protected waters and open ocean, the Boothbay Harbor region is a kayaker’s paradise. Even if you’ve never kayaked before, you can learn easily with instruction from a Registered Maine Guide. Choose from guided tours or, if you’re experienced, go exploring on your own. Both Tidal Transit Kayak Co. and East Boothbay Kayak Co. offer rentals of all the equipment you’ll need, plus tours and lessons as desired. The former is located in Boothbay Harbor; the latter will come to you here at Ocean Point Inn.

Owls Head Transportation Museum
Located only an hour from Ocean Point, this highly regarded museum offers a lively trip into transportation history via an operating collection of antique aircraft, automobiles, bicycles, carriages, and motorcycles. In addition to regular exhibits and special exhibitions, the museum hosts a variety of events such as vintage car rallies, an antique aeroplane show, Model T rides, biplane rides, children’s activities, demonstrations, an annual car auction, and more.
