Everyone loves to vacation in Maine, hence the motto Vacationland. But where to stay in Maine? We hope to help with our picks of some of the top places to stay in Maine. There are so many more great lodging properties in Maine - but these are a few favorite hotels and resorts in the great state of Maine.

Flowers MaineIn York, The York Harbor Inn is the best place to stay. This traditional Inn has something for everyone - country rooms, luxury rooms and suites, with an ocean view dining room and a more casual Ship's Cellar Pub offering live entertainment most evenings. You can walk to the beach, drive to historical sites and outlet shopping, or just soak in the outdoor hot tub.

The Cliff House Resort and Spa offers a spectacular setting - as its name implies. On the border between York and Ogunquit, the Cliff House is a luxury hotel and spa with a storied past and reputation as an extraordinary place to host a wedding or conference.

Ogunquit Resort Motel is great place for families, the rates are affordable, the location is convenient - on the trolley route to town or Ogunquit's beaches, and the resort has its own outdoor swimming pool and hot tub in season.

Misty Harbor Resort in Wells offers a suite set up for vacation families, literally. With condo style accommodations a mile from Wells Beach and views of Wells Marsh, plus an indoor pool and outdoor picnic area, you have everything you need for a relaxing getaway.

Village by the Sea in Wells is a full service resort, meeting and wedding facility. Indoor and outdoor pools, ballroom and meeting facilities plus the all suite lodging with kitchens and private bedrooms make this a great spacious spot for your trip to Wells.

The Seaside Inn directly on Kennebunk Beach is the oldest continually operated Inn in the country. The location, with a private sand beach, is priceless, but the hospitality and humble rates will keep you coming back to this 9th generation inn.

The Colony Hotel PoolThe Colony Hotel in Kennebunkport is one of the last grand seaside hotels remaining. Perched above the sea in Kennebunkport, this lovely Hotel with the wrap around veranda overlooking the Atlantic and the salt water pool is a scene out of a classic summer movie. The Colony is a pet friendly, green hotel too.

Rhumb Line Resort in Kennebunkport is a family-friendly affordable place, not fancy - but fun. Ocean Point Inn in East Boothbay is perfectly located on an oceanfront point, with an Adirondack chair waiting for you. This comfortable Inn, with a motel, Inn and cottages accommodations at reasonable rates offers a swimming pool, and great seafood with spectacular sunsets in the Ocean Point dining room.

Harborside Hotel and Spa in Bar Harbor is the place to stay when visiting Acadia National Park for luxury and true leisure. The four diamond Harborside hotel overlooks Bar Harbor, and guests have access to the exclusive Bar Harbor Club next door for swimming, tennis and swank cocktails in the Oceanside Poolhouse.

Inn by the SeaInn by the Sea in Cape Elizabeth, just a short drive to Two Lights and Portland Headlight, is the best place to stay near Portland. Recent eco-renovations make this waterfront resort, spa and Sea Glass restaurant top shelf.

Migis Lodge
on Sebago Lake is a Maine resort of a past era (since 1916), cozy cabins dot the lakefront, days are spent boating and playing at the fresh water beach, sunset cocktails and elegant evening dinners are served in the Maine Lodge.

Sunday River Grand Summit Hotel is located slopeside at Maine's largest ski resort, with ski valet, an outdoor heated pool and hot tub, and Legends Restaurant for après ski or take the free shuttle to the Foggy Goggle.

Sugarloaf Mountain Hotel is perfect for skiers, a short walk to to the slopes and to Sugarloaf's legendary après ski in the Village; this is the place to stay at the Loaf.

The Lodge at Moosehead delivers luxury in this rustic part of Moosehead Lake Maine. The four diamond Lodge set on a hillside overlooking the majestic lake, offers guests a unique Maine sophistication.
