Maine’s Best Attractions

Mt Battie Camden Maine

Maine Lighthouses are spectacular, perched high on land, standing prominently on outlying islands, or marking the end of rock breakwaters. There are over 60 lighthouses on Maine’s coast and islands, from the most photographed Nubble Light to the eastern most lighthouse in the country - the West Quoddy Headlight. See our Lighthouse Page

Maine’s 11 foot tide is a sight to behold. The natural ebb and flow twice daily that covers rocks and beaches then recedes to reveal broad stretches of sand is not to be missed. Just be careful where you leave your beach chair or your boat.

Lobsters are Maine’s best bounty from the sea. See them lively in a lobster hold or on a scenic boat tour, in a tank at a seafood market or restaurant, then enjoy them freshly steamed and bright red with butter on your plate. Lobsters to Go

Walkers Point, the former summer White House for President Bush, is a spectacular peninsula you can drive past on a scenic tour of Ocean Avenue in Kennebunkport.

Mt Katahdin in Baxter State Park is the highest mountain in Maine at 5,271’, it is the crown of Baxter State Park. It presents New England's most formidable climb and is a challenge for any hiker.

Acadia National Park is Maine’s only National Park, with 35,000 acres primarily on Mount Desert Island comprised of coastline, Cadillac Mountain, plus extensive lakes, ponds and 33 miles of carriage paths that are ideal for hiking or biking. More on Acadia Park

Maine’s amusement parks, like Palace Playland, represent the last of seaside amusement parks and carnivals in New England. Old Orchard Beach’s amusement park includes a century old carousel, a Sun Wheel, and thrill rides – all with a view of Old Orchard Beach’s 7-miles of sand and the sea.

LL Bean in Freeport is the world famous clothier based in Freeport, open 365/24/7. Go to shop “The Beaner” for their guaranteed to last clothing and sporting goods or just to get a picture of the oversized Bean boot at this flagship store, since 1912.

Maine Moose are the official state animal and are best found at dawn and dusk, or on a moose safari, in the Lakes and Mountains, Maine Highlands, Aroostook and Kennebec regions. The Maine moose population is around 30,000. See our Moose Safari Page
