Southern Maine Company Outings

It’s no secret that Maine is known as Vacationland, so it’s not a stretch to imagine the possibilities for a business retreat. Southern Maine is a great destination for business retreats not only to enjoy the great outdoors, but also to roll up your sleeves and get some work done while you’re at it! Companies surveying locations for a business retreat or conference event should consider a few things when determining Maine as the choice destination: expenses, travel and obviously, the fun part: staying an playing in Maine. 

Stay and Play

Southern Maine is an ideal location for company outings to treat employees on a retreat to enjoy the natural amenities of the region including snowmobile trips, coastal sailing cruises, camping, the list is endless; not to mention, you get the genuine Maine hospitality that goes far beyond any concierge service you may encounter.  There’s nothing like enjoying the outdoors to bring the team closer together and relieve the stress from work. You’re certainly not thinking about sales leads while hauling in that big striped bass! Having your conference event in Southern Maine also allows coordinators to be creative, hosting large groups and maybe even incorporate a parcel of the seminar outdoors.

Expenses

Compared to any conference center or rates on lodging in Manhattan or Boston, Southern Maine is by far a thrifty option to host a business event or outing. To make further savings, many companies have chosen winter retreats when hotels and resorts have reduced rates on both lodgings and conference center reservations. Southern Maine even receives Canadian businesses for their outings and conferences to avoid higher taxes.

Travel

Though Maine is the northernmost state in New England, it is a very convenient location for businesses to make their outing destination or conference event. With two major airports within close proximity of Southern Maine including the Portland Jet Port and Logan Airport in Boston. The tip of Southern Maine is just 60 miles (about an hour of driving) away from Boston. Maine has the reputation of being nothing but wilderness, as the saying is here “Can’t get theyah from heah” – that’s Maine slang for ya!

While the northern half of the state is more remote, there are major highways, I95 that make travel from north to south rather easy.  Southern Maine is very convenient, well-connected and easy to reach!
