Come to Maine's Highlands where you can get a feel of what "roughing it" is all about. As you travel the back roads to your campground destination, you are sure to spot a moose or two. Visitors to this region can relish the beauty of Maine's Highlands remote wilderness, however camping here usually appeals for the outdoor enthusiasts.

Camping in Maine's Highlands means you're in the Moosehead Lake, Mt Katahdin, and Baxter State Park region. In Maine's Highlands, you have many great hiking opportunities between Big Squaw Mountain, Elephant Mountain, or Big Spencer Mountain. Maine's Highlands are big for ATVers where many campgrounds have access to an extensive network of trails. Many huntsmen come to this region for big game like moose, deer or bears. Many campgrounds in the Highlands region will even offer ATV tours as well as guided hunting trips.

Here, you can find rental campers, or rental shelters may provide a space for dining where some include kitchen stoves, seating or even hot water baths. Many cottage rentals will include heat and air conditioning, but be aware, not all!
